Thanksgiving traditions...

Do you have Thanksgiving food traditions?
We do.

Every year we make Great Aunt Violet's Salad.
This year I'm helping mom.
I dumped the two kinds of JELL-O in a BIG bowl. While the water boiled
I chopped the walnuts.
 Ooops, need a few more.
I helped chop the cranberries, mom chopped the celery. She was afraid I'd do it too fine and grandma likes it to crunch.
I stirred the JELL-O, after mom poured the water in. She was afraid I'd get splashed
and have red fur.
Mom had drained the crushed pineapple last night and saved the juice. She then added enough water to it to make 2 cups for the cold liquid. I stirred again, then it went in the fridge to thicken slightly. Mom says that keeps the cranberries and stuff from sinking to the bottom.
Then I sat down and had a cup of pumpkin creme coffee while mom cut the grapes. She said this is was her job as a little girl, but back then the grapes had seeds that had to be removed. A very sticky job. She was still afraid I'd get grape juice on my paws.
Then I got to stir the sugar, crushed pineapple and cranberries together. We had to pull some out before adding the nuts and celery and grapes. We have family members with allergies and dietary restrictions.
Then I stirred the mixture into the soft set JELL-O.
It makes a whole lot of salad.
