Scruffy's idea...

"Come on Buttons, I have an idea" said Scruffy.
"Where are we going Scruffy?" asked Buttons.

"Outside" answered Scruffy, "The men are all so busy, they won't even notice us".
"Brrrrrrrr" shivered Buttons, "Mom sure isn't going to like it if we get sick."
"Brrr, sure is cold out here" shivered Buttons. "Mom's not going to like it if we get sick."
"Yeah, but we couldn't take the time to get our coats and shoes." said Scruffy.
"Hey, you two better get in here right now!" said mom when she spotted the boys.
"What were you doing out there?" asked mom. "I want you to stay right there, you don't want to get carted off with the logs or worse, do you?"
"Worse? It was all Buttons idea mom" said Scruffy as he patted Buttons leg, "he wanted to say good-bye to the tree".
"Oh brother, Scruffy!" said Buttons shaking his head no.
Mom knew instantly real instigator by the glint in Scruffy's eye. She said "I want you to safely watch the rest of the tree removal from right there."
After the men had cut and cleaned up the downed tree. The man with the saw started cutting the stump.
While a man waited with a cart
to be loaded with the logs.

He hauled the logs away, laying them on the street.
Scruffy rushed to the door to see better. A yellow bob-cat zoomed down the street and scooped up the logs then zoomed away to dump them into another truck.
Dad asked Scruffy to get him the checkbook so he could pay the men.
"Wow," said Scruffy, looking at the receipt "not bad for an hour and a half's work."
"Wow," said Buttons, "sure looks different!"
"Now mom has to see how much of the Hostas and Pachysandra will still grow there without the shade from the tree."  said Buttons with a sigh. "She is going to put a big flower pot on the stump this year with trailing plants."

Grr-bye for now,

 Buttons

What a beary nice and cozy looking house! Just perfect for little bears. Maybe you could even plant some flowers that love the sun, then your front yard would look like you redecorated it, and Buttons and Scruffy could pick flowers to put on the table!

Looks great! That sure was a big tree - and it looks like it had rot in the trunk - good thing it got cut down before it fell down! Flowers would look beary nice out there.

Sandy, I think you are right. The tree had split down the trunk and was hollow down the center. We were amazed how many years it hung on. It was a beautiful shape with lots of shade, we miss it. Still getting used to seeing the front of the house.

Jerry and Ben, we will be planting some flowers that love sun. and part shade. Our house faced north

We think that a Really Big Pot with Flowers is a Very Good Idea, Buttons!

And we're Sure that it is 'Interesting' for your Humans to see the Front of your House again! We Know that you have Saved Pictures of your Tree and will Treasure it in your Hearts.

My Dad had to take 9 Large Pine Trees out of our Yard – but that was Before I was even Born, he Says.
