Last flowers, the last tenants...

Saturday the weather was still mild, and I begged mom to let me go outside. She said yes, so I put my hoodie on and went out in the front yard. I looked to see if there were any flowers

still growing after the heavy frost we had the other night. The hearty mums and the alyssum are still hanging in there. Mom says alyssum is supposed to be an annual flower. But ours
have been acting like a perennial, coming back for about four years now. Mom says it just reseeds itself.

Next I went to the backyard. To take a last look at the birdhouse grandpa built, I had heard mom and dad talking about maybe taking it down soon, as it won't make it through the winter.

Oh my goodness, it is falling apart fast now.

That big hole was made by a larger tenant then the apartment was intended.

Wow, the back two apartments are missing their outside walls. I think the birdhouse has been up for about 9 or 10 years. When the last tenants moved out, they were last seen picketing, with signs that read "Slum lords" and "Cheap, cheap!" It was once a beautiful birdhouse. I don't think grandpa will be making us another one, as I don't think he is able anymore. Mom is kind of sad about that.

At least we are still feeding our feathered friends. I just noticed you can see one of our solar panels in this picture. Mom and dad have had a solar hot water system for about 23 years. That's longer than they've had me.

Next, I visited with Joseph, he's from Bethlehem, New Hampshire.

Mom gave him his annual coat of linseed oil last weekend, when he is dry he will return to the front porch.

This is what we looked like when Joseph was new and I was fluffier.

Wow, just a few more flowers.

Maybe I should pick some for mom. The cold weather is coming soon.

Grr-bye for now,

Buttons
