Our day after Father's Day ...

The temperatures around here are hot, hot and hotter. The air is so thick with humidity its hard to breath. Now that its officially summer its time to wear my shorts. Yippee! I get to see my knees peek out everyday, haven't seen them for a long time.
Well Hell-o knees!
Checking on the lettuce - we had some in the salad on Monday night. Yum!

We celebrated Father's Day on Monday with a family dinner. Brother T was supposed to bring Scruffy along, I guess Scruffy over-slept and wasn't ready to leave on time. Brother T had emailed mom after he got to work to say Scruffy didn't make it. Oh well, maybe for the 4th of July.

So when Brother T walked in with two bears we were all surprised. One bear was Boston, he is now Brother T's backseat bear.

This is Boston and Me.
The other bear I'd only heard about. His dad lives upstairs from my brother in Chicago. But he lives in the backseat of his dad's car. He told me he's more than just a backseat bear, he's also a guard bear. He keeps people from messing with his dad's car. His name is Benzer.

This is Benzer and Me.
Brother T discovered him in his car one day on his way somewhere. I think he snuck in to give Boston the Backseat Bear Version of New Bear Orientation Class. I think Boston's specialty is detecting the location of every Starbucks on any given route. Not necessarily for coffee, but for the free Wi-Fi.

I heard mom ask T if he was bearbysitting? She knew Benzer's dad was out of town. The bigger question here... Do you really know what your bears may be up to when left behind?

Anyway, note to Benzer's dad...Benzer says Grr and Happy Belated Father's Day! It was nice to meet Benzer. We had a great time visiting. I think he made a special friend while he was here, her name is Winnie.Sure hope Reggie doesn't find out, because I think she's his girl.

We had a very good chicken dinner and then some delicious Ambrosia Cake that grandma made. She told me I could share the recipe. Again, my apologies, no picture, the people around here eat stuff so fast. The regular photographer can't even get the camera out and its gone!

Ambrosia Cake

- makes two 8" pans or one 9" x 13"

1 Ducan Hines Yellow Butter cake mix
11 oz. can Mandarin Oranges, juice and all
4 Eggs
1/2 c. oil

8 oz. Cool Whip
20 oz. can crushed Pineapple, juice and all
1 small pkg. Vanilla Instant Pudding
Grease and flour two 8" cake pans. Mix cake mix, oranges (juice and all), eggs and oil. Pour into prepared pans. Bake at 350° until cake tests done. Cool a few minutes in the pan, remove layers from pans; cool completely. Split layers. Fold frosting ingredients together. Spread frosting between each layer and frost the cake. Refrigerate cake. (My grandma uses a cake comb when she frosts it, makes it look pretty.)

Dad and grandpa's presents didn't arrive till this morning. So I wrapped them, grandpa picked his up. I ordered them both books they wanted.
Dad will open his when he gets home from work.

Grr-bye for now,

Hello Buttons.
Wonderful to meet you. Greetings from England!
It's been very hot here too, but we've also had a lot of thunder so you wouldn't have liked it very much. I agree with you about hard-boiled eggs. I do recommend something I've recently discovered called "ice cream" however - with a little honey drizzled over the top, I think you'll find this makes for a most agreeable treat.
Thanks for stopping by; I will certainly keep an eye on whatever you are getting up to.
Most sincerely,
Mr Orso Bear, esq.

Thanks for stopping by, sorry I was busy when you stopped in. I already know all about ice cream. The people around here eat a lot of it. Between you and me, perhaps too much!

I'll be checking in on you too.

Hey Ho Bob!

Sorry you're having trouble posting today. Mom and I are chasing the elusive HTML code trying to get the read more to work on my next post.

I think eating ice cream makes the hot weather tolerable. Yum! 8;-)
